The walnut tree (deciduous tree) grows in Western to Central Europe.

‌The American walnut tree already bears its origin in its name. The mostly deciduous tree grows up to 40 metres high and can reach a diameter of up to 2.50 metres. The shaft is knot-free up to a height of eight metres.

‌Walnut wood has a dark and somewhat lively grain. American walnut is also known as "black walnut" and, in contrast to European walnut, is somewhat more uniform and darker in colour. Walnut wood is very easy to work with and hard-wearing. As a fine wood, it is very popular in upmarket furniture and is also relatively expensive in comparison. Walnut is not weatherproof.
